Addressing the problem of congestion in hospitals

Congestion is a continuing problem especially in government hospitals (including the Philippines). Emergency room crowding, patient beds extending to the hospital corridors, mothers sharing beds in the Obstetrics ward —these are not rare occurrences in government hospitals. Congestion is a concern through the years and it continues to persist despite awareness of the problem. The problem worsens in times of disaster and calamities as demonstrated by typhoon Yolanda in recent years.
