The previous year brought about a massive turnout in new users of social media as an effective tool for healthcare resource. The “demand” for updated information and answers from technology savvy users encouraged healthcare practitioners to share information from their areas of expertise to “supply” the general population. From tweets to Facebook posts, to even Instagram photos, healthcare consumers have been visible in accessing social media as a way to promote awareness and patient engagement.
